Amy Schulman
Senior Vice President & General Counsel
Amy W. Schulman is Senior Vice President and the General Counsel of Pfizer. She leads the company's worldwide Legal Division and is responsible for a wide range of legal and regulatory areas, including intellectual property, litigation, regulatory law and compliance, global security, licensing and acquisitions.
Before joining Pfizer in June 2008, Ms. Schulman was a partner at DLA Piper, an international business law firm, where she was a member of the firm's Global Board and its Executive and Policy Committees. At DLA Piper, Ms. Schulman focused on class-action litigation for numerous Fortune 500 clients and handled some of the most complex legal, scientific and regulatory issues facing the world's most respected companies, including Pfizer. She also led a number of the firm's strategic initiatives, most notably in the areas of client services, diversity and inclusiveness, and mentoring.
Known for her commitment to clients and her skills as a legal advocate, Ms. Schulman has earned accolades from some of the profession's most prestigious publications and organizations. For example, in 2009, The National Law Journal named her to its inaugural list of the 20 Most Influential General Counsel. Ms. Schulman also has been called "one of the best strategic lawyers around" by Chambers USA, and she was recognized by The American Lawyer in 2003. Most recently, she was included in Forbes magazine's 2009 list of The World's Most Powerful Women.
Ms. Schulman is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wesleyan University with a double major in Philosophy and English, and earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1989. She speaks and writes frequently on issues relating to women in the profession, mass tort and resolution strategies. In addition, Ms. Schulman is on the board of directors of Equal Justice Works and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
